Sometimes you just have to come out in the open and own up - I am a magazine junkie! While doing the big sort out I am finding magazines piled up in every corner and I still can't believe that our little house actually has that many corners and still I keep finding more.
The magazines used to all live in this bookcase neatly filed in order but then I started running out of space and was too busy doing other things to start sorting.
Well the problem just compounded and at the moment the worktable in the studio is covered with ever growing piles. This photo was taken early in the day and believe me the heaps have grown.
I am not a minimalist and really love my magazines so a lot of these will be kept and put into archive boxes at least for the foreseeable future. My love of quilting and all my inspiration has generated from these publications and my earlier quilts all began as magazine projects so they have become part of my quilting life. I just wish I had the time to keep rereading them and I have to admit to being distracted on many occasions today while I flicked through some. If I am ever at a loss about what to make with a particular range of fabric I just sit down with a coffee and a heap of magazines and time just flies while I indulge myself with all the inspiration. I just don't seem to get the same buzz from reading magazines on the internet and hope it is a long time before I have to downsize to the extent that I can not longer keep my favourite mags.
Till next time
Frances

I am sooooo glad you fessed up---and I am sooooo relieved to know that there is someone else with this same 'love' that I have. :D
That makes me feel so much better seeing your stash of magazines. Now and again I go through them and take out the projects that appeal to me and file them away but there is still a very large box full and at least 2 tall stacks. I wonder if there is a name for a magazine collector.
I'm with you. I enjoy holding a magazine in my hands and flicking through the pages, especially when there is a cuppa involved as well.
Looks to me like you need floor to ceiling bookshelves. What a lovely idea! I might think about that one, too.
Oh Frances. What a wonderful collection of magazines. I always keep Quiltmania because it is so hard to find here. I love to sit and look through a magazine. Something about it just makes me happy.
Oh, that sounds just like me! On the top of all the quilting magazines, there are embroidery and knitting magazines............I do have a clear out now and then, but I find it hard to do that! We talk about downsizing sometimes, I just hope it is not going to be any time soon, LOL!
This seems to be very common. We all love our mags. I'm no exception - a lot of mine have those little post-it notes sticking out the pages. I could never give away my mags.
I looks like you're gathering a group of fellow magazine lovers here in your comments. Whenever friends have stacks they're giving away, my arm goes out quickly to grab what I can, even if I suspect I already have some of them. What if a very special quilt is inside one of those covers and I never see it? I'm a magazine junkie too. Love, love, love em.
Thanks for sharing what so many of us feel.
Hello Frances
Thank you for joining my blog - lovely to meet you - especially as you're a quilter!
I see my friend Radka is one of your followers too. She probably started my interest in quilting - she does wonderful embroidery too and is a very generous kind soul with her information and help.
I'm looking for copies of Magic Patch so if you decide to pass any of those on we could do a swap maybe!!!
I'm joining your blog too and look forward to getting to know you.
hugs
Shane ♥

I would have fun going through your magazines.I haven't as many but mine grow in 2 corners and shelves in the wardrobe.I need to get them in order also. I love haveing lunch or a coffee with a magazine and also have post it notes in the pages.
Hello Frances, I also have cupboards and shelves groaning with magazines. For the past week I have been going through some each night and doing a cull. Some of them are soooo old. It has to be done but it hurts a little :-) Regards Dianne.
