My sister Anne - a tribute

I have spent a lot of time over the last few days looking through some very old photos and picking out the ones with my sister Anne in them and thought I would put up some of them as a tribute to her.  The first was taken in the hallway of our old family home just before she married John with me as one of her bridesmaids.

Here she is sitting on the front fence at home with our niece, Maree, who was the first grandchild for my parents and then 21 or so years later with Maree's daughter, Melinda.

I just love this photo because it was so typical of so many family gatherings at home when a group of us would always end up around the dinner table having a laugh.

We miss her already but she will be in a hearts forever.

Oh Frances I am so very sorry for the loss of your dear sister. You have written and shown such a loving tribute to your sister. Things will never be the same but remember the happier memories. Thinking of you at this sad, sad time.

I only just found your message & learnt of your blog. What a wonderful tribute to Anne. And oh the memories those old photos engendered. Your Mum always made me so welcome at your place as an escape from my 4 brothers! Thank you for sharing.

Blogger's Quilt Festival

  Its that time of year again when Amy over at Amy's Creative Side  is organising an online quilt festival so I thought I would add my quilt "Concerto for Mixed Peel" to the all the fun.     "Concerto for Mixed Peel" by Frances Leate This quilt is approximately 78" square and has been created using the Orange Peel block in three different sizes.  The blocks were hand appliqued using the fusible method with blanket stitch.  I chose this method of applique as I needed a very portable project at the time and this proved to be just the thing.  I  quilted "Concerto for Mixed Peel" on my Bernina 440 machine in a simple style and then added the scalloped edging.  It was commissioned by Australian Homespun magazine and the brief was for a quilt using the orange peel block, thirties style fabrics and to be bright and fresh in colour.  The project was published in Homespun No. 105 Vol 13 No 2.     Till next t...

Quilt Patterns on Cosy Project
