While watching the Olympics!

I have been thoroughly enjoying watching the olympics this week and this gave me the opportunity to work on projects old and new.  My very long time Double Wedding Ring project was brought out for an airing and I enjoyed doing some hand piecing to progress this quilt.  I am still not completely sure how large this project will end up but I am determined to finish it some time.

As I have also been recovering from a particularly nasty bout of flu/cold I needed some comfort stitching and the machine pieced Farmers Wife blocks filled the bill beautifully.  I am still using an eclectic scrappy mix of fabrics and so far have not repeated a fabric in more than one block.  The block count is now 59 and I have passed the halfway mark.

I like to vary my stitching so I have also been doing some nice and easy fusible applique with blanket stitch by hand.  These have been the perfect blocks to stitch while watching the games when I have enjoyed sports I don't usually watch, like the equestrian, rowing, diving, hockey, athletics and so forth.

Till next time
Frances

Some lovely projects you are working on and just goes to show that a little at a time eventually leads to enough to do something with. We have had an exciting night in the medals with the athletics, not so good with the football.

Your Farmers Wife blocks are coming along beautifully, and good for you to continue with your wedding ring quilt too, a lot of work, but it should turn out wonderfully!!!!

It is interesting to see that the Olympics have created both an increase in TV watching and also an increase in sewing as we sit and watch! Can't be bad.
Love seeing your projects and hope you are feeling much better.

Sounds like the nasty flus have been crossing the borders because they have definitely been down here.
Love seeing the variety of projects that you are working on. I so want to finish my FW but those last few blocks just aren't getting done. Life gets in the way.
I am enjoying the Olympics too despite the time difference.

Fun to see what you've been up to. Love the soft feel of your double wedding rings. Those fabrics look very much like some I have in my collection. Scrappy quilts are among my favorites and your FW fits the bill. Is it hard to hand stitch through the fusible? I haven't done it, but have been warned about it. I haven't been getting enough sleep this week because of prime time coverage of the Olympics. I know I could record it, but for some reason I just don't want to wait. I've been EPP my hexagons as I watch. Glad you are getting over your nasty cold. Take care.
